Drug peddler held with 12.5 grams heroin-like substance, ₹14,300 cash in Pulwama
PULWAMA — Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday said they apprehended an alleged drug peddler and recovered approximately 12.5 grams of heroin-like substance and ₹14,300 in cash during naka checking at Newa Chowk in Pulwama district.
A police party from Police Post Newa intercepted a cab bearing registration number PB01B3431 during checking. The suspected contraband was recovered from the vehicle’s dashboard, police said.
The accused was identified as Mohd. Sahil, son of Abdul Majeed Kumar, resident of Chak Wali Sahab, Rawalpora, Sanat Nagar, Srinagar.
Police said the recovered substance, cash and the vehicle allegedly used in the offence were seized as per prescribed procedure.
In connection with the case, FIR No. 152/2026 under Sections 8/21-27A of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Pulwama. Further investigation is underway to trace the source of the contraband and establish its wider linkages. — (KIMS)
