Anantnag, May 16: As part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, the Drug Control Department Anantnag on Friday carried out a massive inspection drive in far-flung areas of the district, including Seer Hamdan, Vail Nagbal and Panzmulla Salia.
During the special enforcement operation, officials inspected several medical shops and chemist establishments to verify compliance with mandatory regulations, including maintenance of digitized records of scheduled drugs and installation of surveillance systems as required under departmental norms.
Officials said that ten drug samples were collected during the drive for testing and laboratory analysis to ensure quality standards and prevent misuse of pharmaceutical medicines.
In a major action, the department ordered the closure of three medical shops — Shah Pharmacy, Zahoor Medical Store and Al Noor Medicate — for violating mandatory regulatory guidelines and failing to comply with departmental norms.
The department reiterated its commitment to strengthening monitoring mechanisms and taking strict action against violations to curb the misuse of pharmaceutical drugs across the Union Territory under the ongoing anti-drug campaign.
Officials added that such inspection drives will continue across the district to ensure strict enforcement of drug control laws and safeguard public health. (ANN)
