Disproportionate assets case registered against AEE in Kishtwar: ACB

JAMMU (KIMS) — The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday said it has registered a disproportionate assets case against an Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) posted in Kishtwar district.

According to an ACB statement, FIR No. 01/2026 under Section 13(1)(b) read with Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, was registered at Police Station ACB Doda against Ashiq Hussain Rather, presently posted as AEE Hydraulic Sub-Division Chhatroo in Kishtwar district.

The case was initiated following a verification conducted by ACB Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban into allegations that the accused officer possessed huge movable and immovable assets in his own name as well as in the names of his family members.

The assets include a five-storey residential house on Court Road Doda, land purchased at Udrana Bhaderwah and Sunjawan Jammu, huge bank balances including fixed deposits, costly electronic gadgets and jewellery, the statement said.

According to the ACB, the value of the assets was found disproportionate to the income earned by the suspect from all known sources and it was suspected that he had illicitly enriched himself during the period of his service.

During investigation, the ACB obtained search warrants from the competent court and conducted searches at the residential and official premises of the accused in Doda and Kishtwar districts in the presence of Magistrates and independent witnesses.

Further investigation in the case is underway. — (KIMS)
