DIG Udhampur Reviews Security Arrangements Along NH-44 Ahead of Amarnath Yatra

Udhampur, July 6: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Udhampur-Katra-Reasi Range, Shiv Kumar (IPS), conducted a comprehensive review of the security arrangements along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and key Yatra locations in Udhampur district.
The DIG was accompanied by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Udhampur Amritpal Singh (IPS), ASP Udhampur Sandeep Bhat, DySP Headquarters Prahlad, the Commandant of CRPF, DySP Traffic Udhampur, and other senior officers.
The inspection covered Saloora, Tikri, Phalata, Gole Mela Jakhaini, Samroli, and the Chenani Tunnel, where the officers assessed security deployments at the National Highway, lateral roads, lodgement centres, and langar points.
During the visit, the DIG interacted with police and security personnel deployed on the ground and directed them to remain extra vigilant. He instructed officers to intensify checking and patrolling, keep PCR and JPCR continuously updated, and maintain close coordination with the Army, CRPF, BSF, ITBP, SSB, and the Special Operations Group (SOG).
He also stressed the importance of closely monitoring anti-social and anti-national elements to ensure a peaceful and secure environment for pilgrims and the general public.
Appealing to the public, the DIG urged citizens to remain alert and promptly share information with the police regarding any suspicious persons or suspicious movements, emphasizing that public cooperation is vital for maintaining security.
