DC Pulwama finalises Independence Day arrangements, reviews Har Ghar Tiranga and Vande Mataram campaign preparations

Pulwama, Aug 7: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom, today chaired a comprehensive meeting at Circuit House Pulwama to review and finalise arrangements for the smooth conduct of the forthcoming Independence Day celebrations across the district.

The meeting also reviewed the action plan for the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign–2026, to be observed from August 9 to 17, integrated with the third phase of the commemoration of 150 years of the National Song “Vande Mataram”.

At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner took a detailed review of preparations relating to venue readiness, parade contingents, cultural programmes, power and water supply, public address system, stage management, illumination and decoration, seating arrangements, invitations, parking facilities, traffic regulation, sanitation, medicare, security and other logistical arrangements for the Independence Day function.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Pulwama, Tanushree, apprised the chair of the security arrangements and informed that adequate measures are being put in place to ensure the smooth conduct of all Independence Day events across the district.

During the meeting, the Additional Deputy Commissioner gave a detailed presentation on the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign and the integrated Vande Mataram programme, highlighting the calendar of activities to be conducted from August 9 to 17. The presentation covered Tiranga rallies, cycle rallies, exhibitions, Rangoli and quiz competitions, Rakhi-making workshops, patriotic cultural programmes, mass singing of Vande Mataram and Tiranga selfie campaign.

Reviewing the preparations, the Deputy Commissioner directed all departments to work in close coordination for the successful observance of the national celebrations and ensure enthusiastic public participation at the district, subdivision, tehsil, block and panchayat levels. He further stressed the need to create a festive and patriotic atmosphere across the district through community mobilisation, inclusive participation, and fervent celebrations.

Dr. Qayoom also directed the officers to conduct “One Officer, One Rally” by leading Tiranga rallies in their respective jurisdictions to encourage greater Jan Bhagidari. The DC further directed all departments to ensure strict adherence to the Flag Code during the campaign and Independence Day celebrations. He stressed that all National Flags should be displayed with due dignity in accordance with the prescribed norms.

Among others, the meeting was attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioners of Pulwama, Awantipora and Tral, Chief Planning Officer Pulwama, officers from police, paramilitary forces and administration.
