DC Anantnag Reviews SANJY-2026 Preparations at Nunwan, Chandanwari; Directs Seamless Arrangements for Successful Yatra

ANANTNAG, APRIL 28: Deputy Commissioner Anantnag and Yatra Officer for Pahalgam Axis, Dr. Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat (IAS), on Monday reviewed preparations for Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY) 2026 during an extensive visit to Nunwan and Chandanwari base camps, directing all stakeholder departments to ensure seamless arrangements for the smooth and successful conduct of the annual pilgrimage.

Accompanied by ADC Dr. Muzamil Maqbool Beigh, SDM Pahalgam Amit Gupta, and senior officers from concerned departments, the DC took a comprehensive review of logistical and infrastructural preparedness being put in place for the upcoming Yatra.

Officials briefed the Deputy Commissioner on arrangements related to accommodation, tentage, drinking water supply, electricity, sanitation, healthcare and other essential services proposed for pilgrims undertaking the sacred journey to the Holy Cave.

During the review, the administration informed that round-the-clock monitoring mechanisms are being established to ensure uninterrupted services and prompt response to any emergent issues faced by yatris. In a notable initiative aimed at addressing the needs of women pilgrims, “female-only kiosks” will also be installed at Nunwan Base Camp.

Expressing satisfaction over the progress achieved so far, Dr. Bilal directed all departments to ensure that every arrangement is completed in a smooth and time-bound manner. He stressed the need for adequate facilities at base camps, transit points and other locations en route to provide devotees a safe, comfortable and enriching pilgrimage experience.

Calling for close coordination among civil administration, line departments, police, security agencies and service providers, the DC emphasized collective efforts for the safe and successful conduct of SANJY-2026. He also asked departments to identify gaps observed during previous Yatras and take remedial measures well in advance.

Later, the Deputy Commissioner inspected Chandanwari Camp, where he reviewed medical facilities, emergency response systems and preparedness for high-altitude health emergencies. He directed deployment of adequate medical staff, ambulances and medicines to meet the needs of pilgrims at the crucial transit point.

He also stressed early construction, repair and renovation of key amenities, including roads, toilets and trauma care facilities, so that the camp is fully prepared ahead of the pilgrimage.

Reviewing progress on snow clearance along the Yatra route, the DC sought updates from the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) and directed timely completion of operations while ensuring strict adherence to standard operating procedures and safety guidelines.

The visit reflects the administration’s intensified focus on ensuring robust infrastructure, effective coordination and pilgrim-centric facilities for the smooth conduct of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026.
