Couple wanted in Uttarakhand murder case arrested in Katra
JAMMU (KIMS) — Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday said they arrested a couple wanted in a murder case registered in Uttarakhand in Katra area of Reasi district and handed them over to the concerned police after completing the required legal formalities.
According to a police statement, Police Station Katra received information from Police Station Dhanya in Almora district of Uttarakhand that Dharambir, son of Vijender, resident of Sheikhpur in Hisar district of Haryana, along with his wife Jhanki Devi, had allegedly committed a murder at their native place on June 20, 2026, and fled the state.
Police were informed that the accused couple was staying in Katra, following which a police team led by PSI Shubham Sharma was immediately deputed to trace and apprehend them.
Through sustained efforts, the team successfully located and arrested both the accused from BNK Hotel in Main Bazaar, Katra, the statement said.
The concerned police station in Uttarakhand was informed immediately, and after completion of the necessary legal formalities, the accused were handed over to the Uttarakhand Police for further investigation and legal action. — (KIMS)
