Conflicting Thyroid Test Reports from Private Labs Near GMC Baramulla Raise Serious Concerns

Baramulla, July 1: Serious concerns have been raised over the accuracy of diagnostic reports issued by some private laboratories operating near GMC Baramulla after a patient allegedly received four different thyroid test results on the same day from different labs.
According to the patient’s attendant, Irshad Ahmad, his son was advised by doctors at GMC Baramulla to undergo a thyroid test. He first visited Appolo Clinical Laboratory, where the thyroid test reportedly showed a value of 10. As the result appeared doubtful, the treating doctor advised repeating the test at another laboratory.
The attendant then approached Zam Zam Clinical Laboratory, where the same test conducted on the same day reportedly showed a value of 5. The doctor again expressed concern over the conflicting results and advised another repeat test.
Irshad Ahmad returned to Appolo Clinical Laboratory for a second test on the same day, where the reported value came as 2.91. Still unconvinced, the family finally got the test conducted at Max Lab, where the thyroid value reportedly came as 1.35, which was stated to be within the normal range.
The contradictory reports have left both the patient’s family and the treating doctor confused, raising questions about the reliability and quality control of diagnostic laboratories operating in the vicinity of GMC Baramulla.
Irshad Ahmad has appealed to the health authorities to investigate the matter and ensure that no patient suffers due to inaccurate diagnostic reports.
When contacted, officials at the Office of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Baramulla, said the matter would be looked into seriously. They stated that if any laboratory is found responsible for negligence or malpractice, appropriate action will be taken in accordance with the rules.
