CM inaugurates first International Film Festival of J&K in Srinagar
SRINAGAR — Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today inaugurated the first International Film Festival of Jammu & Kashmir (IFFJK) in Srinagar, marking a new chapter in the region’s longstanding association with cinema.
The festival brings together filmmakers from more than 30 countries, with over 130 films being showcased, providing a platform for international cinematic talent and placing Jammu & Kashmir on the global creative map.
Addressing the inaugural event, the Chief Minister said the festival reflects J&K’s aspiration to emerge as a vibrant destination for filmmakers, storytellers and creative professionals from across the world.
“Today, as we launch this festival, bringing together filmmakers from over 30 countries and showcasing over 130 extraordinary films, we are not just opening a cinema event. We are opening a new chapter in a long, storied romance between Jammu & Kashmir and the silver screen,” the Chief Minister said.
The IFFJK is expected to provide a platform for cultural exchange, promote local talent and showcase Jammu & Kashmir’s rich artistic and cinematic heritage to an international audience. — (KIMS)
