CCIK Delegation Calls on Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha; Key Business and Trade and social Issues Discussed
Srinagar, August 07: A delegation of the Chamber of Commerce & Industries Kashmir (CCIK) called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha, and submitted a detailed memorandum highlighting several issues concerning the business, industrial, trade, tourism and education sectors in Jammu & Kashmir.
The CCIK delegation comprised Mr. Showkat Chaudhary, Advisor to CCIK; Mr. Adnan Shah, Secretary General; Mr. Aatif Khan, Joint Secretary; Mr. Ashiq Bhat, Chief Coordinator; and Mr. Umar Jan Wani, Convenor.
The meeting was held in a cordial and constructive atmosphere and proved to be highly fruitful. The delegation apprised the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of various concerns being faced by the business community and sought the intervention of the administration for their early resolution.
Among the key issues raised by CCIK was the matter of industrial land allotment by the Department of Industries & Commerce. The delegation highlighted the difficulties being faced by entrepreneurs and investors regarding the allotment process and requested timely intervention. The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor informed the delegation that the matter would be addressed and reiterated that necessary directions have already been issued to the concerned departments to resolve the issue and facilitate industrial growth in the Union Territory.
The delegation also raised the issue of CID verification of Managing Committee Members of private schools, stating that the existing procedure is causing difficulties for educational institutions. The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor assured the delegation that the matter would be examined sympathetically. He further stated that details would be sought from the concerned departments and appropriate action would be taken after reviewing the issue.
The CCIK delegation also discussed several other recommendations contained in the memorandum relating to industrial development, ease of doing business, MSME support, tourism promotion, infrastructure development, access to credit, skill development, solar and EV infrastructure, delayed payments to MSMEs and policy facilitation.
The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor listened patiently to all issues raised by the delegation and assured them that the concerns would be examined and addressed in consultation with the relevant departments.
Speaking after the meeting, the CCIK delegation expressed satisfaction over the positive response received from the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor and appreciated his keen interest in addressing the concerns of the business and industrial community. The delegation expressed hope that the assurances extended during the meeting would translate into timely action on the ground.
CCIK reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the administration for the promotion of trade, industry, entrepreneurship and sustainable economic development across Jammu & Kashmir.
