Glenn Maxwell retires from international cricket after 14 years

SYDNEY — Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell on Monday announced his retirement from international cricket, bringing an end to a 14-year career during which he won three ICC World Cup titles.
The 38-year-old last represented Australia in their final match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 against Oman.
Maxwell played 149 One-Day Internationals (ODIs), 130 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) and seven Tests for Australia. He was part of the Australian teams that won the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cups in 2015 and 2023, as well as the T20 World Cup in 2021.
Regarded as one of Australia’s most explosive white-ball batters, Maxwell made a lasting impression with his aggressive stroke play and ability to change the course of a match.
One of the defining moments of his career came during the 2023 ODI World Cup when he smashed an unbeaten double century against Afghanistan, guiding Australia to a remarkable victory in a challenging run chase.
Maxwell finished his ODI career with 3,990 runs at a strike rate of 126.7, while he scored 2,897 runs at a strike rate of 154.4 in T20Is.
He also registered 10 international centuries and claimed 136 wickets across all three formats, establishing himself as one of Australia’s finest all-rounders. — (KIMS)
