NIA attaches property in Srinagar allegedly used to harbour Pakistani LeT terrorists

SRINAGAR — The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has attached a residential property in Srinagar allegedly used to harbour Pakistani Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists and conceal incriminating material linked to a cross-border terror conspiracy.

According to an NIA press release, the property, located at Khasra No. 315 in Danihama village of Hazratbal, belongs to accused Ghulam Mohammad Mir, alias Mama Gas. The attachment was carried out under Section 25 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act after approval from the NIA Director General.

The agency said its investigation established a direct link between the property and the alleged terror conspiracy, with the premises reportedly used to shelter Pakistani terrorists and conceal material connected to the terror network.

The case was initially registered as FIR No. 24/2026 at Police Station Zakura, Srinagar, on March 31, 2026, before being taken over and re-registered by the NIA as case RC-02/2026/NIA/JMU.

The investigation has allegedly uncovered a network of local overground workers (OGWs) coordinating with Pakistan-based LeT handlers to facilitate the infiltration, movement, shelter and logistical support of Pakistani terrorists for attacks against government establishments, security forces and civilians.

During a search conducted on April 6, 2026, at the accused’s residence in Danihama, Hazratbal, investigators detained two suspected Pakistani terrorists, identified as Abu Huraira and Khubaib, who were allegedly associated with LeT. An explosive-like substance, digital devices and other incriminating material were also recovered and seized, the agency said.

The NIA said the investigation is continuing to identify and expose the wider terror-support network, including other OGWs, facilitators and individuals allegedly linked to Pakistan-based handlers. — (KIMS)
