BARAMULLA — Jammu and Kashmir Police in Baramulla have recovered ₹6.70 lakh out of ₹11.70 lakh allegedly defrauded from a victim in an online financial fraud case, officials said on Saturday.

The recovery was made in connection with FIR No. 03/2026 registered under relevant provisions of the Information Technology Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Police said the amount was traced and recovered through sustained investigation, technical analysis, financial tracking and coordination with concerned banking authorities. The recovered amount was subsequently refunded to the victim.

The investigation was conducted under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Shahjahan Chowdhary and led by Cyber Police Station Baramulla SHO Inspector Sajad Wani along with his investigation team.

Further investigation is underway to trace the remaining defrauded amount and ascertain other details related to the case. — (KIMS)
