BUDGAM POLICE BUST INTERDISTRICT MOTORCYCLE THEFT GANG, RECOVER SIX MOTORCYCLES

 

 

Budgam, 01 Oct 2026:As part of ongoing efforts to prevent and detect vehicle theft, Budgam Police have bust a motorcycle theft gang and recovered six motorcycles during the course of investigation in FIR No. 156/2026 of Police Station Chadoora, the case was related to pertaining to the theft of a motorcycle during the intervening night of 26/27 September 2026.

 

The case pertains to the reported theft of a Bajaj Pulsar bearing Registration No. JK01AV-8713. During the course of investigation and search, the said motorcycle was recovered from a workshop at Nagam, Chadoora, being operated by Ubair Maqbool S/o Mohd. Maqbool Bhat R/o Hanjigund, Chadoora.

 

During questioning, Ubair Maqbool disclosed that he had allegedly procured the said motorcycle from Adil Sultan S/o Mohd. Sultan Bhat R/o Hanjigund, Chadoora. He further disclosed that he along with Adil and other associates have stolen many motorcycles and the other motorcycles were lying in the said workshop, some of which were in dismantled or partially dismantled condition.

 

Based on the information disclosed during investigation, Police conducted a search of the workshop and recovered a total of six motorcycles. Of these, four were found in dismantled condition, one in partially dismantled condition and one in intact condition. The recovered motorcycles were found without number plates. The circumstances regarding the removal of the number plates are being verified during investigation.

 

The recovered motorcycles include three TVS Ntorq 125 motorcycles, two Bajaj Pulsar motorcycles and one Bajaj Pulsar NS 160. The available chassis and engine numbers have been recorded for the purpose of identification and verification of ownership.

Adil Sultan has been arrested by Police Station Rajbagh in connection with another case. During investigation of the present case, his name was disclosed by Ubair Maqbool in relation to the procurement of the motorcycle recovered in the case. Necessary communication has been made with Police Station Rajbagh for securing the custody of Adil Sultan in the present case, subject to due legal process and orders of the competent authority.

 

All recovered motorcycles have been taken into possession in accordance with law and due procedure. Their ownership, origin and possible linkage with other reported cases are being verified during the course of investigation.

 

Further investigation is in progress. Any further legal action shall be taken strictly on the basis of evidence and in accordance with law.

 

Budgam Police appeals to the public to remain vigilant and promptly inform the Police regarding any suspicious activity or information relating to vehicle theft.
