Two bootleggers arrested in Shopian, 43 liquor bottles recovered
SHOPIAN — Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested two alleged bootleggers and recovered 43 bottles of illicit liquor from their possession during naka checking in Arhama area of Shopian district on Wednesday, police said.
The accused were identified as Lawaris, son of Suriyaban Chavan, and Daramdas Khosla, son of Dhamdhari Khosla, both residents of Maharashtra and currently residing at Alyalpora, Shopian.
Police said a party from Police Station Shopian intercepted the duo after noticing them moving under suspicious circumstances. During their search, 43 bottles of illicit liquor were recovered.
A case, FIR No. 204/2026, has been registered at Police Station Shopian under relevant sections of law, and further investigation is underway to trace the source of the liquor and establish its forward and backward linkages. — (KIMS)
