Police crack theft case in Baramulla, 3 arrested; stolen copper utensils recovered
BARAMULLA — Police in Baramulla have cracked a theft case registered at Police Station Pattan with the arrest of two persons and apprehension of a juvenile, besides recovering the stolen copper utensils.
According to police, FIR No. 186/2026 was registered on August 6 following a complaint regarding the theft of copper utensils from a shop owned by Shakeel Ahmad Malik of Singhpura at Hyderbeigh Market.
The theft was allegedly committed during the intervening night of August 5 and 6, when unidentified persons broke through the wall of the shop and fled with a substantial quantity of copper utensils.
During the investigation, police pursued technical and human leads and questioned several suspects. One of the suspects allegedly disclosed his involvement in the theft along with his accomplices, following which the stolen property was recovered based on his disclosure and identification.
Further investigation led to the apprehension of a juvenile and the arrest of two accused persons identified as Showket Hussain Mir, son of Manzoor Ahmad Mir of Kakerpora, and Nazir Ahmad Dar, son of Assadullah Dar of Chainabal.
Police said the juvenile is being dealt with in accordance with the applicable law.
With the arrests and recovery of the stolen property, the case has been worked out. Further investigation is underway. — (KIMS)
