Teacher arrested over alleged sexual harassment of minor girl in Awantipora
AWANTIPORA — Police in Awantipora have arrested a Physical Education Teacher (PET) in connection with a case involving alleged sexual harassment of a 15-year-old girl in the Aripal area of Tral, officials said.
According to police, a written complaint was lodged at Police Post Aripal on September 24, alleging sexual harassment of the minor by Bilal Ahmad Lone, a resident of Darganigund and posted as a PET at Government High School, Lam, Aripal.
Following the complaint, police registered FIR No. 107/2026 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Tral and launched an investigation.
Police said a team led by the Incharge Police Post Aripal conducted the investigation and, based on technical and human intelligence, established the involvement of the accused, following which he was apprehended and arrested.
