Two terror associates held in Pulwama; arms, ammunition recovered
SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Jammu and Kashmir Police in a joint operation with the Army and CRPF, arrested two alleged terrorist associates and recovered a pistol, 12 rounds of ammunition and a hand grenade from their possession in the Yarwan forest area of CB Nath in Rajpora tehsil of Pulwama district, police said on Tuesday.
According to a police statement, the operation was launched by Pulwama Police along with 44 Rashtriya Rifles and 183 Battalion CRPF following coordinated security inputs. A Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was conducted in the general Yarwan forest area.
During the operation, joint teams noticed two individuals emerging from the forest towards CB Nath village in a suspicious manner and apprehended them.
The arrested individuals were identified as Latif Ahmad Deedad, son of Ghulam Mohammad Deedad, a resident of Lassi Daban, and Aejaz Ahmad Bajad, son of Nazir Ahmad Bajad, a resident of Bun Kha Bamnoo.
During their search, police recovered one pistol, 12 pistol rounds and a hand grenade. Both accused, along with the recovered arms and ammunition, were taken into custody.
In this connection, FIR No. 118/2026 under Sections 7/25 of the Arms Act and Sections 13, 18, 23 and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) has been registered at Police Station Rajpora.
Police said further investigation is underway to ascertain the activities of the accused, trace the source of the recovered arms and ammunition and establish their possible linkages.
The recovery marks a significant operational success in the ongoing efforts of Pulwama Police and security forces to disrupt terror networks and prevent terror-related activities in the district, the statement said. — (KIMS)
