Unlabelled “Cola Mola” Sweet Strips Sold in Baramulla, Parents Raise Health Concerns

UMAR RASHID

Baramulla: 24 Aug: Concerns have been raised over the alleged sale of “Cola Mola” sweet strips for children at various shops in lanes across Baramulla without proper labelling, manufacturing details, date of manufacture or expiry date.

Several parents from Khanpora, Old Town and Khawaja Bagh alleged that some shopkeepers are selling these sweet strips and other confectionery products to children without the mandatory information on the packaging.

Parents said the absence of proper labelling and expiry details raises serious concerns about the safety and quality of products being consumed by children. They questioned why such products are being sold openly and urged the authorities to conduct regular inspections of shops selling confectionery items.

“Children are consuming these products without knowing whether they are safe or within the expiry period. The Food Safety Department must verify such products and take action wherever violations are found,” parents said.

Parents have appealed to the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and the Food Safety Department Baramulla to look into the matter seriously, inspect the shops concerned and take necessary action to prevent the sale of improperly labelled or potentially unsafe food products to children.
