Surprise Food Safety Raid in Drangbal Baramulla; Expired Juices, Junk Food items Seized

Baramulla: In a major food safety check, the Food Safety Inspector, Baramulla, accompanied by a police team from PP Old Town Baramulla, conducted a surprise inspection of a shop in the Drangbal area on Monday.
During the inspection, the team recovered a quantity of expired juices, junk food and other edible items from the premises. The entire stock was seized and handed over to the police for safe custody.
Officials said the seized material could not be destroyed on the same day due to the non-availability of a Municipal Council vehicle. The expired and seized food products are scheduled to be destroyed tomorrow in the presence of the Food Safety Officer, Baramulla.
The inspection was carried out at the shop of Manzoor Ahmad Gojri, son of Abdul Rahim Gojri, a resident of Drangbal, Baramulla.
Meanwhile, the Food Department is likely to initiate legal proceedings in the matter and lodge a case before the ADO Baramulla against the concerned shopkeeper.
