Independence Day 2026: Rakesh Singh Appeals to Kashmir Youth to Stay Away from Drugs
Srinagar Aug 15 : On the occasion of Independence Day 2026, Rakesh Singh, National General Secretary of Shri Hindu Takht and in-charge for Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh, distributed sweets among common people and security personnel in Srinagar.
Speaking on the occasion, Singh appealed to the youth of Kashmir to stay away from drugs and focus on education, sports, employment and nation-building activities. He appreciated the anti-drug campaign launched by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and welcomed the efforts being made to make Jammu and Kashmir drug-free.
Singh said that the fight against drugs requires collective efforts from families, society, youth and the administration. He urged the young generation to choose a positive path and contribute towards the development of the nation.
Meanwhile, people from different states of India who were present in Srinagar also celebrated Independence Day with enthusiasm. They conveyed a special message of unity and brotherhood to the people across the country, saying that Kashmir is not only known for its natural beauty but also for the warmth, hospitality and love of its people, which is famous across the world.
They said their experience in Kashmir reflects the spirit of “Atithi Devo Bhava” and the strong bond between people from different parts of India.
On the occasion, Singh also extended his Independence Day message to the people of India and appealed to everyone to actively participate in the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign 2026.
He said the Tiranga represents the unity, pride and aspirations of every Indian and urged people to celebrate Independence Day with patriotism, peace and a spirit of national unity.
