Large Cache of Arms, Ammunition Recovered During Joint Search Operation in Kulgam

Kulgam, July 29: A large cache of arms and ammunition was recovered during a joint search operation conducted by security forces in the Sursunoo area of Kulgam district on Wednesday, officials said.
The operation was jointly launched by Kulgam Police, the 34 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) of the Indian Army, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) following specific inputs.
During the search, the joint team recovered one AK-47 rifle, two pistols, 13 hand grenades, two AK-47 rifle magazines, 131 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, and one pistol magazine.
Officials said the recovery is being viewed as a significant success in the ongoing efforts to thwart militant activities in the region. They added that the search operation is still in progress to ensure no additional arms, ammunition, or other suspicious material remains concealed in the area.
Police have initiated further investigation to ascertain the origin of the recovered weapons and identify those linked to the cache. More details are awaited as the operation continues.
