Mehbooba Mufti expresses concern over NH-44 disruptions impacting horticulture sector

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday expressed deep concern over the impact of landslide-induced disruptions on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway (NH-44) on Kashmir’s horticulture sector.

In a post on X, the PDP said Mehbooba Mufti noted that every day of delay in transporting fresh produce puts the hard work of fruit growers at risk and threatens the livelihoods of lakhs of families dependent on horticulture.

She urged the administration to ensure the priority movement of horticultural consignments on the highway and explore every safe alternative to minimise losses during the peak harvest season.

Mehbooba also called for allowing suitable heavy commercial vehicles to ply on the Mughal Road, wherever considered safe, to facilitate the transportation of horticultural produce and reduce losses to growers. — (KIMS)
