Mehbooba alleges arrests of Jantar Mantar protesters, seeks legal intervention
SRINAGAR (KIMS) — PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Monday expressed concern over reports of the arrest of youths who participated in the Jantar Mantar protest, alleging that the majority of those targeted in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and other BJP-ruled states were Muslims.
In a post on X, Mufti said the reported arrests were “disturbing” and claimed they came despite BJP national president J.P. Nadda’s assurance that all FIRs registered against the protesters would be withdrawn.
She urged Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke to intervene, ensure that the assurance regarding withdrawal of FIRs is honoured, and mobilise legal assistance for those facing prosecution. — (KIMS)
