Iltija Mufti questions delay in reservation panel report, seeks accountability

SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Iltija Mufti on Saturday criticized the Jammu and Kashmir government over the delay in making public the Cabinet Sub-Committee’s report on the reservation policy, accusing it of failing to ensure accountability.

In a post on X, Mufti said that students in Kashmir were still waiting for the Sub-Committee’s report, which, according to her, was supposed to be brought into the public domain more than a year ago.

“Who is responsible for this gross incompetence? Shouldn’t heads roll?” she wrote, questioning the government’s handling of the issue.

She further alleged a lack of accountability, asking, “Why no accountability from this government? Or will statehood also be used as an excuse in this case to justify their maladministration?”

The Cabinet Sub-Committee was constituted to examine concerns over Jammu and Kashmir’s reservation policy. The committee has since completed its report and submitted it to the government for further examination and consideration. — (KIMS)
