Continuous Rainfall Triggers Tragedy in Rajouri: Woman Killed, Father-Son Injured as Residential Kitchen Collapses

Rajouri, July 25 : Continuous rainfall triggered a tragic incident in Rajouri district on Saturday after a residential kitchen collapsed in Bhatian village of Thanamandi, leaving a woman dead and two others injured.

Officials told KNC that the kitchen of a residential house suddenly caved in amid the ongoing rains, trapping three family members under the debris. Soon after the incident, locals, along with rescue teams, rushed to the spot and launched an immediate rescue operation.

The deceased has been identified as Shahida Parveen, wife of Abdul Rehman, who succumbed to the injuries sustained in the collapse.

The injured have been identified as Abdul Rehman, son of Fauz Ullah, and his son Tofeeq Rehman, son of Abdul Rehman. Both were rescued from the debris and shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri for medical treatment. Their condition is stated to be under observation.

Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated an investigation. While continuous rainfall is suspected to have contributed to the collapse, the exact cause will be ascertained after a detailed inquiry, officials said.
