Anantnag, July 11: A Civil Court in Anantnag has dismissed an application seeking interim relief filed by former Jammu and Kashmir cricketer Parvez Rasool in connection with a civil suit challenging the notice issued by the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) for convening a Special General Meeting (SGM).

Parvez Rasool had approached the Court of the Civil Judge (Senior Division), Anantnag, seeking to restrain JKCA from acting upon the SGM notice dated June 4, 2026, alleging that it was issued in violation of the association’s constitution. The respondents, including JKCA office-bearers, opposed the plea, maintaining that the notice had been issued in accordance with the constitutional provisions of the association.

After hearing both sides, the court observed that the impugned notice had been issued from Jammu and that the proposed Special General Meeting was also scheduled to be held there. It held that no part of the cause of action had arisen within the territorial jurisdiction of the Anantnag court.

The court further held that the mere issuance of a notice convening an SGM did not, by itself, infringe any legal or statutory right warranting the grant of interim relief. It also noted that the plaintiff had not disclosed certain material facts relating to parallel proceedings before other courts while seeking equitable relief.

In view of these observations, the court dismissed the application for interim injunction. The main civil suit, however, shall proceed in accordance with law.
