Over 11 kg heroin destroyed in Rajouri: Police
JAMMU (KIMS) — Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday destroyed over 11 kilograms of heroin seized in a narcotics case registered in Rajouri district.
According to a police statement, 11.689 kilograms of heroin seized in FIR No. 178/2024 registered at Police Station Nowshera under Sections 8/21/22/27-A/29 of the NDPS Act and Sections 111/238 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was destroyed after obtaining the requisite destruction order under Section 52-A of the NDPS Act from the competent court.
The statement said the seized contraband was disposed of through scientific incineration in the presence of the High-Level Drug Disposal Committee (HLDDC) headed by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Crime, Jammu and Kashmir.
Police said the destruction was carried out strictly in accordance with the provisions of law, ensuring complete transparency and accountability throughout the process.
The destruction of such a substantial quantity of heroin reflects the sustained efforts of Rajouri Police to dismantle narcotics networks and prevent seized drugs from re-entering society, the statement said.
Police reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and reaffirmed its commitment to protecting society, particularly the youth, from the menace of narcotic abuse. — (KIMS)
