JKCA Declares Notice Issued by Suspended President ‘Null and Void’, Vice President Takes Charge

Srinagar, June 26: The Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) has announced that a notice issued by suspended President Javid Ahmed Kitab convening a Special General Meeting (SGM) on June 27, 2026, is illegal, without jurisdiction, and void from the outset.

According to a notice issued by Officiating President Desh Rattan Dubey, Javid Ahmed Kitab had already been placed under interim suspension by the Apex Council on June 25, 2026, and therefore had no authority to convene any meeting or exercise the powers of the President.

Earlier on Friday, the JKCA issued a separate notification stating that, following Kitab’s interim suspension pending an inquiry by the Ombudsman, Vice President Desh Rattan Dubey would officiate as President with immediate effect for up to six months or until the Ombudsman’s decision, whichever is earlier. The notification directs all office bearers, affiliated units, employees, and stakeholders to recognize his authority.

The association has further warned that any resolutions or proceedings arising from the June 27 meeting called by the suspended President will have no legal or constitutional validity and should be ignored. Members have been instructed to act strictly in accordance with the JKCA Constitution and the Apex Council’s resolutions.
