Trump: “Without My Intervention, Israel Would Have Been Crushed”
Washington, June 20: U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed that Israel would have been “crushed” if he had not intervened during recent tensions in the Middle East.
Speaking in an interview, Trump said his relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu remains “very good,” but stressed that Netanyahu must continue to act with wisdom and restraint.
Trump also stated that he has the ability to prevent Israel from launching further attacks on Lebanon, adding that Israeli leaders respect his views and listen to his advice.
The remarks come amid growing debate over the recent U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding, which includes provisions aimed at reducing violence across multiple fronts, including Lebanon.
Trump defended the agreement and described it as a major diplomatic achievement. His comments followed criticism of the deal by several members of the Israeli government, prompting a strong response from U.S. Vice President JD Vance, who reportedly reminded Israel that Washington remains its most important ally.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz have insisted that Israeli forces will not withdraw from security zones in southern Lebanon, a position that could complicate future U.S.-Iran diplomatic efforts.
