Anantnag, June 19 (ANN): The Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) Anantnag has issued a final warning to commercial vehicle operators after identifying around 1,300 vehicles operating with expired permits and nearly 800 vehicles whose fitness certificates have not been renewed.
Officials said that despite repeated notices and awareness campaigns, a large number of vehicle owners have failed to update mandatory documents, thereby violating provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
The department has urged all commercial vehicle operators to immediately renew their permits and fitness certificates to avoid legal action. Officials warned that special enforcement drives will be intensified in the coming days, and vehicles found operating without valid documents will face penalties as per law.
An MVD official said that permits and fitness certificates are crucial documents that ensure vehicles are legally authorized to operate and meet prescribed safety standards. The department has appealed to vehicle owners to complete the renewal process without further delay.
Authorities have made it clear that no relaxation will be provided to defaulters and strict action, including fines and possible seizure of vehicles, may be taken against those found violating transport regulations.
The department reiterated its commitment to ensuring road safety and maintaining regulatory compliance across the district.
