Shaun Tait resigns as Bangladesh bowling coach
SRINAGAR — Former Australian cricketer Shaun Tait has resigned from his role as Bangladesh’s fast bowling coach with immediate effect, bringing an end to his stint with the side after 12 months.
Tait joined Bangladesh in May last year on a contract running until November 2027. The former Australia speedster had replaced ex-New Zealand all-rounder Andre Adams in the role.
During his tenure, Bangladesh’s pace unit made notable strides, with the fast bowlers increasingly becoming match-winners across formats.
Young quick Nahid Rana was among the bowlers to flourish under Tait’s guidance. Rana, who produced a five-wicket haul against Pakistan in the opening ODI in March, credited the Australian for helping build his confidence at the international level.
“To be honest, he is an outstanding coach because he behaves with us not only as a coach but also as a friend,” Rana had said about Tait.
“He always tells us to stick to our strengths. He says, ‘You will play on the field, I will give you the plan, and you have to execute it and win the match.’”
One of the standout moments during Tait’s tenure with the Bangladesh side came during their historic 2-0 Test series win over Pakistan, where the seam attack played a major role. — (KIMS)
