ANN News Expands Beyond News Into Entertainment Broadcasting Across the Globe
Srinagar: In a historic development for the media industry of Jammu & Kashmir, ANN News has officially announced the launch of the Kashmir Valley’s first dedicated entertainment television channel, “ANN ENTERTAINMENT.” The initiative is being celebrated as a major milestone for the people of Srinagar, Baramulla, Anantnag, Pulwama, Kupwara, Budgam, Shopian, Bandipora, Ganderbal, Kulgam, Jammu, Rajouri, and several other towns of Jammu & Kashmir, especially among the younger generation that has long demanded a strong local entertainment platform.
The new channel marks a major expansion of ANN News Network, which has already established itself as a prominent voice in news broadcasting across Jammu & Kashmir. With ANN ENTERTAINMENT, the network is now entering the world of entertainment, youth engagement, music, sports, and cultural programming.
According to the management, the channel will soon be available on local cable networks, OTT platforms, IPTV services, and other digital streaming platforms, allowing viewers across the globe to watch and connect with Kashmir’s local entertainment content.
ANN ENTERTAINMENT will feature a wide range of locally produced programs, including entertainment shows, podcasts, live musical performances, quiz competitions, talent-based programs, comedy content, cultural programs, and youth-focused shows. The initiative aims to create constructive engagement opportunities for young people and provide them with positive entertainment alternatives.
Speaking about the vision behind the channel, ANN News Editor-in-Chief Tariq Bhat said that media platforms play a critical role in shaping society and countering misinformation.
«“My vision is not limited to news and entertainment only. I also want to launch a dedicated sports channel for Kashmir Valley that will provide a platform to our talented sports lovers. News, entertainment, and sports are all important pillars of society. In today’s time, when enemies try to spread propaganda, strong local media platforms become very important. Kashmir deserves its own media houses, and we are trying to fill that gap with positivity and constructive energy,” he said.»
The launch of ANN ENTERTAINMENT is expected to open new opportunities for local artists, musicians, anchors, content creators, performers, and young talent from Srinagar, Sopore, Handwara, Kupwara, Baramulla, Anantnag, Pahalgam, Pulwama, Jammu, Rajouri, Doda, and other districts of Jammu & Kashmir.
Media observers believe the move could redefine local broadcasting by promoting Kashmiri culture, creativity, local languages, and positive storytelling on a global platform.
