A satirical online movement dubbed the “Cockroach Janata Party” (CJP) has gone viral across India after controversial remarks by India’s Chief Justice Surya Kant about young people and “cockroaches” triggered backlash and meme culture online.

 

 

 

 

The controversy began when comments attributed to the Chief Justice during a court hearing circulated widely on social media, with critics accusing the judiciary of being dismissive toward the frustrations of India’s youth. While many participants describe the campaign as political satire and digital dissent, others see it as a reflection of growing frustration among sections of India’s youth over unemployment, inequality, and perceived disconnect between institutions and ordinary citizens.
