Anantnag, May 08: In one of the most massive anti-narcotics crackdowns witnessed in Jammu and Kashmir, Anantnag Police has attached and seized properties worth nearly ₹6.5 crore belonging to an alleged drug trafficking network based in Doonipora Sangam.

The action, described as the single largest narcotics property attachment in the Union Territory, was carried out under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act against Bashir Ahmad Mir and his family members after an enquiry revealed that the family had allegedly accumulated huge assets far beyond their known lawful sources of income.

According to police, the investigation established that the properties were suspected to have been acquired through proceeds generated from illicit narcotics trade.

The attached properties include multiple residential houses, a commercial building identified as “Muskan Restaurant,” around 211 marlas of land in Sangam and Naina, and a Hyundai Creta vehicle.

Police also cited multiple NDPS cases registered against the accused family over the years, including recoveries of poppy straw and charas.

Officials said the operation sends a strong warning to narcotics traffickers that assets built through the drug trade will be identified, seized, and brought under the ambit of law as the anti-drug campaign intensifies across the region.
