ACB files chargesheet against 11 accused including 4 SMC officials in violation of building permission case
SRINAGAR (KIMS) — Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday said it has filed a chargesheet against 11 accused persons, including four officials of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) and seven private beneficiaries, in a case related to violations in building permissions.
ACB said the chargesheet was filed in FIR No. 24/2020 under sections 5(1)(d) read with 5(2) of the J&K Prevention of Corruption Act, Svt. 2006, and section 120-B RPC at Police Station ACB Srinagar, before the Court of Additional Special Judge Anti-Corruption Srinagar for judicial determination.
The case pertains to the construction of six illegal structures at Jawhar Nagar, Gonikhan, Hari Singh High Street and Wazir Bagh areas of Srinagar without obtaining valid building permission from the competent authority, allegedly in connivance with SMC officials.
During the investigation, the ACB said that evidence, both oral and documentary, substantiated the allegations against the accused public servants and private beneficiaries. It added that a criminal conspiracy between the officials and beneficiaries was established.
ACB further said that after obtaining the required sanction for prosecution of the public servants from the government, the chargesheet was presented before the court.
The next hearing in the case has been scheduled for June 16, 2026. — (KIMS)
