Awami-E-Tehreek Launches ‘Nasha Mukt J&K’ Campaign in Rajouri, Pushes for Rural Sports Infrastructure

Rajouri, April 25: Awami-E-Tehreek, under the leadership of President Waqar H. Bhatti, today organized a major awareness program at Saj in Rajouri as part of its “Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir” initiative, aimed at mobilizing youth against the growing threat of drug abuse.

The event witnessed participation from key officials and stakeholders, including Abid Hussain (SDM Thanamandi), Ab Qayoom Mir, representatives from the Indian Army (43 RR), revenue officials, academics, and civil society members. The program was hosted by Roohi Bhatti.

Addressing the gathering, Waqar H. Bhatti lauded the administration’s anti-drug campaign led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, calling it a “visionary step” to safeguard future generations.

At the same time, he emphasized the need for long-term solutions through youth engagement, urging the government to develop sports infrastructure in rural areas. He proposed the establishment of one major sports stadium for every cluster of 8–10 panchayats, stressing that access to playgrounds and facilities would steer youth away from substance abuse and toward positive activities.

The event concluded with a collective pledge by local youth to work towards a drug-free society. Awami-E-Tehreek reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for improved education, healthcare, and sports facilities across the region.
