Delhi Blast Row Echoes in Kashmir: PDP’s Najmus Saqib Targets National Conference Over ‘Militancy Narrative’
Anantnag: The political fallout of recent discussions around a Delhi terror blast has reached Jammu and Kashmir, with Najmus Saqib of the People’s Democratic Party launching a sharp attack on the Jammu & Kashmir National Conference during a youth convention in Anantnag.
Addressing party workers, Saqib criticized what he described as a “dangerous and misleading narrative” linking mainstream Kashmiri political parties to militancy, amid unverified claims circulating in connection with a Delhi blast case.
Without endorsing those claims, Saqib said attempts to associate political actors with militancy were politically motivated and aimed at discrediting opposition voices. He also objected to branding leaders like Waheed Para as militants, calling it “an attack on democratic legitimacy.”
“This narrative is not just false, it is harmful. It undermines institutions and the very idea of democratic participation in Jammu and Kashmir,” Saqib said in his address.
He further rejected allegations that regional parties were responsible for the rise of militancy in Kashmir, terming such assertions “oversimplified and politically driven.”
The remarks come amid heightened tensions between the PDP and the National Conference, with both parties increasingly clashing over historical accountability and present-day narratives.
No official confirmation has linked any political party to the Delhi blast case being discussed online, and authorities have urged caution against spreading unverified information. The National Conference has not yet responded to Saqib’s remarks.
