35-Year-Old Patient Dies At Private Hospital In Anantnag; Family Alleges Negligence, Doctors Rule Out Surgical Complication
Anantnag, August 29: A 35-year-old man from Kulgam died at a private hospital in Anantnag on Friday, prompting his family members to allege medical negligence and stage a protest at the hospital premises.
According to officials, the deceased has been identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, son of Ghulam Nabi Wani, a resident of Qaimoh, Kulgam. He had been admitted to Mid City Private Hospital, KP Road, Naibasti Anantnag, for treatment of a kidney stone.
Officials said the patient underwent Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy (PCNL), a procedure commonly performed for the removal of kidney stones. His condition was reportedly stable following the procedure.
However, on August 29, his condition deteriorated and he subsequently died at the hospital, officials said.
Following the death, the patient’s family members alleged that medical negligence on the part of the treating doctors led to his death and staged a protest at the hospital. Police also reached the spot and initiated an assessment of the circumstances surrounding the death.
Meanwhile, Dr Zahoor Gilkar of Mid City Hospital, while giving the hospital’s version, said that the patient had undergone PCNL and was stable after the procedure.
He said the hospital was examining the circumstances surrounding the sudden deterioration in the patient’s condition and ruled out any immediate surgical complication as the cause of death.
The exact cause of death is yet to be officially established. Further details are awaited as authorities ascertain the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident.
