2 children drown after falling in canal in Ganderbal
Ganderbal, Jun 9: Two minor children drowned after accidentally slipping into an irrigation canal in Goripora village of Kangan in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Tuesday, officials said.
An official told news agency Kashmir News Observer that the children fell into the Baba irrigation canal, leading to their deaths.
The deceased have been identified as Ashiya (4), daughter of Mohammad Amin Lone, and Mohammad Imran (6), son of Mohammad Iqbal Lone, both residents of Goripora, Kangan.
Locals rushed to the spot and retrieved the bodies from the canal soon after the incident.
Police have taken cognisance of the matter, while the deaths have triggered grief in the area (KNO)
