06 Gamblers Held in Pahalgam, ₹18,260 Stake Money Seized by Anantnag Police

Anantnag, May 16: Continuing its drive against unlawful activities, Anantnag Police arrested six persons allegedly involved in gambling in the Pahalgam area and seized ₹18,260 along with playing cards from the spot.
According to police, a team from Police Station Pahalgam was conducting routine patrolling at Lidder Park near Sumo Stand No. 1, Pahalgam, when they noticed several individuals gambling openly in a public place with stake money. Acting swiftly, the police party apprehended all six persons on the spot.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Mohd Amin Lone, son of Ab Aziz Lone of Pahalgam; Farooq Ahmad Dar, son of Mohd Ismail Dar of Pahalgam; Ab Rehman Raina, son of Ab Gani Raina of Pahalgam; Nazir Ahmad Lone, son of Ab Khaliq Lone of Pahalgam; Gh Nabi Mir, son of Ali Mohd Mir of Wullarhama; and Lateef Ahmad Laway, son of Gh Qadir Laway of Veersaran.
Police said that during the operation, playing cards and stake money amounting to ₹18,260 were recovered from their possession and seized as per legal procedure.
A case under relevant provisions of law has been registered and further investigation has been taken up.
Anantnag Police has appealed to the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and report any unlawful activities in their respective areas.
