Two arrested with suspected heroin, pistol, ₹1.48 lakh cash in Jammu

JAMMU — Jammu Police arrested two persons and recovered around 22 grams of a heroin-like substance, a pistol, ₹1.48 lakh in cash and other incriminating articles during naka checking in Bishnah, officials said.

Police intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number DL-10CS-3362 after noticing suspicious circumstances during routine naka checking and traffic challaning within the jurisdiction of Police Station Bishnah.

During the search, police recovered ₹1,48,800 in cash, a pistol, approximately 22 grams of a heroin-like substance, an electronic weighing machine and two mobile phones from the vehicle’s dashboard.

The arrested persons have been identified as Sonu Kumar, son of Uttam Chand, a resident of Chak Murar, and Anmol Arora, son of Pankaj Arora, a resident of Slama Bas in Amritsar.

Police said both persons failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for possessing the recovered cash, suspected contraband, weapon and other articles.

Accordingly, FIR No. 189/2026 under Sections 8/21/22/25/29 of the NDPS Act and Sections 3/25 of the Arms Act has been registered at Police Station Bishnah.

Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and intended destination of the suspected contraband, the origin of the cash and weapon, and the possible links of the accused with other persons involved in drug trafficking, police said. — (KIMS)
