Three booked for illegal cutting of walnut tree in Pulwama
Pulwama, Apr 13: In a continued drive to curb illegal activities and safeguard environmental resources, Pulwama Police has taken action against unlawful cutting of a protected walnut tree in Dafferpora area.
During routine patrolling, a Police Team noticed illegal cutting of a walnut tree at Dafferpora. Upon inspection, it was found that the tree, protected under the Jammu and Kashmir Preservation of Specified Trees Act, 1969, had been cut without obtaining the required permission.
The tree was found to belong to Gh Mohi-ud-Din Malik S/o Ali Mohd Malik R/o Dafferpora. During enquiry, three individuals involved in the illegal act were identified as Manzoor Ahmad Khan S/o Ab Rehman Khan R/o Bangund Wanpora, Hilal Ahmad Bhat S/o Ab Hameed Bhat R/o Bangund Wanpora and Shahid Ahmad Khan S/o Ab Rashid Khan R/o Bangund Wanpora.
The cut timber was seized on the spot and necessary legal action under relevant provisions of law has been initiated against the accused persons.
Pulwama Police urges the general public to refrain from such illegal activities and cooperate with law enforcement agencies in protecting the environment and preserving valuable natural resources.
