Drug smuggling bid foiled in Pulwama, two arrested
Pulwama, Apr 13: Continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking, Pulwama Police achieved a significant success during naka checking.
A police party of Police Station Kakapora established a naka at Kandizal near NH-44 underpass.
During checking, a suspicious vehicle bearing registration number JK02DA-4166 (Innova), coming from the highway towards Pampora, was intercepted. The vehicle was driven by Liyaqat Ali S/o Nazir Ahmad Akla R/o Nagrota Jammu, along with a passenger, Amanat Ali S/o Gh Mustafa R/o Nagrota Jammu.
During search of the vehicle, a polythene bag was recovered from the dicky. On examination, the bag was found to contain two small packets of contraband substances, including approximately 533 grams of poppy straw and 20 charas sticks weighing about 735 grams.
Both accused persons were taken into custody on the spot. The vehicle used in the commission of the offence has also been seized.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 31/2026 under relevant provisions of law stands registered at Police Station Kakapora, and further investigation has been taken up.
Pulwama Police reaffirms its commitment to eradicate the drug menace and appeals to the public to cooperate and share any information related to drug activities.
