Anantnag Police Recover ₹25.50 Lakh Cash and 104 Grams Charas in Tulkhan Raid, One Arrested

Anantnag, June 9: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Anantnag Police recovered ₹25.50 lakh in cash and 104 grams of charas during a raid conducted in the Tulkhan area of Anantnag district on Monday.

During the operation, police arrested one individual allegedly linked to the possession and distribution of narcotic substances. The recovered cash and contraband were seized on the spot as evidence.

Officials said the action was carried out as part of the district police’s ongoing drive against drug peddling and criminal activities. A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the law, and investigations have been initiated to determine the source of the seized cash and the extent of the accused’s involvement in narcotics-related activities.

Police are also probing whether the recovery is linked to a wider drug network operating in the region.

Anantnag Police reaffirmed their commitment to combating the drug menace and urged citizens to continue supporting law enforcement agencies by reporting suspicious activities.In a significant breakthrough against drug trafficking, Anantnag Police recovered ₹25.50 lakh in cash and 104 grams of charas during a raid conducted at Tulkhan in the jurisdiction of Police Post Sangam.
Acting on specific information regarding the concealment of narcotics by a suspected drug peddler, police teams carried out a search operation at an under-construction residential house belonging to Farooq Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Hassan Dar, a resident of Tulkhan.
During the search, officers recovered ₹25,50,000 in cash and 104 grams of charas, which had been concealed beneath boulders on the ground floor of the house.
Subsequently, FIR No. 154/2026 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act was registered, and the accused was taken into custody. Police said further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the recovered cash and uncover any wider links to drug trafficking networks.
Anantnag Police reiterated its firm commitment to eradicating the drug menace from society and appealed to the public to assist law enforcement agencies by sharing information related to narcotics activities.
