Anantnag Administration Issues Weather Advisory; Public Urged to Stay Alert as Heavy Rain Forecast

Anantnag, July 18: The District Administration Anantnag has issued a weather advisory following the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Srinagar forecast of moderate to heavy rainfall across Kashmir Valley from July 19 to July 23, 2026, with the peak rainfall activity expected between July 21 and July 23.
According to the advisory, there is a possibility of flash floods, waterlogging, landslides, mudslides, shooting stones, overflowing rivers and nallahs, and disruption of essential services, particularly in vulnerable areas of Pahalgam, Daksum, Kokernag, Larnoo, Sinthan Top and adjoining upper reaches of Anantnag district.
The administration has advised residents, tourists and pilgrims to:
Avoid unnecessary travel, especially to hilly and landslide-prone areas.
Stay away from rivers, streams, nallahs and other water bodies due to the risk of sudden rise in water levels.
Refrain from trekking, camping and other outdoor recreational activities in vulnerable locations.
Follow all weather advisories issued by IMD and the District Administration.
Immediately report incidents such as flooding, landslides, road blockages, fallen trees, damaged power lines or any other emergency to the authorities.
