Anantnag, July 17: Two pilgrims from Madhya Pradesh were successfully treated after suffering severe cardiac emergencies while returning from the holy cave shrine of Shri Amarnath Ji, thanks to the prompt response of the Jammu & Kashmir Police and the advanced medical care provided at Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag.

According to officials, the yatris developed severe chest pain after completing the darshan of Baba Barfani near the Sheeshnag Base Camp. Fellow pilgrims immediately alerted the authorities, following which Jammu & Kashmir Police personnel rushed them to the nearby medical facility at Sheeshnag for emergency treatment.

After initial evaluation, doctors at the base camp referred both patients to GMC Anantnag for specialized cardiac care. Upon arrival, the cardiology team diagnosed both pilgrims with severe heart attacks and immediately initiated life-saving treatment.

Doctors at GMC Anantnag performed emergency stent implantation (angioplasty) to restore blood flow to the blocked coronary arteries, stabilizing both patients. Hospital officials confirmed that the timely diagnosis and immediate intervention proved crucial in saving their lives.

The incident highlights the well-coordinated emergency response mechanism put in place during the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, with seamless coordination between the police, healthcare teams at the base camps, and tertiary care facilities ensuring that pilgrims receive timely medical assistance in critical situations.

The rescued pilgrims expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Jammu & Kashmir Police for their swift response and to the doctors and healthcare staff at GMC Anantnag for their professionalism, advanced medical facilities, and compassionate care. They said the prompt medical attention gave them a new lease of life and ensured their safe recovery.

Authorities have once again advised pilgrims undertaking the annual yatra to undergo proper medical check-ups before embarking on the pilgrimage and to seek immediate medical assistance if they experience symptoms such as chest pain, breathlessness, or dizziness during the journey.
