J&K Government Orders Major Reshuffle in Information Department; 17 Officers Transferred
Srinagar, July 17: The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Friday ordered a major reshuffle in the Information Department, transferring and posting 17 officers across the Union Territory with immediate effect. The transfers have been made in the interest of administration through Government Order No. 28-JK(ID) of 2026 dated July 17, 2026.
Under the order, Showkat Hussain Ganie has been transferred from District Information Officer (DIO), Shopian, to DIO, Kulgam, while Erim Aziz has been shifted from DIO, Budgam, to Information Officer in the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), J&K. Rajinder Kumar Dingra has been posted as Cultural Officer, Jammu, after serving as DIO Kathua, and Abhimanyu Singh, DIO Doda holding additional charge of Kishtwar, has been placed at the disposal of the Director, Public Relations (KBI), New Delhi, till further orders. Adil Manzoor Wani has been transferred from Bandipora to Kupwara as District Information Officer.
The government has also adjusted several recently promoted officers. Rajinder Paul Singh, Gulshan Sumbria, and Majeeb Ahmad Ganai have been appointed as Editors in the DIPR. Gulshan Ara has been assigned the charge of Assistant Director, Information (Advertisement), Kashmir, while Shabir Ahmad Bhat has been posted as Field Publicity Officer, Kashmir.
Among the district-level postings, Gurpreet Singh has been posted as DIO Kathua, Liyaqat Ali Mir as DIO Budgam, Mohammad Owais Gurkoo as DIO Bandipora, Natyapal Singh as DIO Ramban with additional charge of Rajouri, Parvaiz Ahmad Lone as Information Officer (Youth), Kashmir, Sajad Ahmad Shah as DIO Shopian, and Hardeep Singh Choudhary as DIO Poonch with additional charge of DIO Rajouri until further orders.
The order further states that all officers shall be deemed relieved from their present places of posting with immediate effect. It also clarifies that Gulshan Ara shall not claim any preferential right for promotion to the higher post of Assistant Director over officers senior to her in the same pay level. The order has been issued by R. Alice Vaz, IAS, Commissioner/Secretary to the Government, Information Department.
