US Imposes Fresh Sanctions on Iran-Linked Defense Technology Supply Network
Washington: The United States has imposed new sanctions targeting a network accused of supplying sensitive American technology to Iran’s defense sector, according to reports by AFP and Reuters.
The US Treasury Department stated that the network, allegedly led by Ali Majd Sepehr, used front companies and fake websites to deceive dozens of American technology firms into providing advanced equipment for Iran’s military and defense programs.
US officials claimed the group posed as legitimate American businesses to purchase sophisticated technology, including frequency spectrum analyzers and security-related equipment, before transferring them to Iran through intermediaries based in Dubai.
Washington said the activities violated US sanctions and contributed to strengthening Iran’s defense capabilities. The sanctions were imposed under US counterterrorism regulations.
