IRP 21 Battalion Ramps Up Anti-Drug Drive in Baramulla, Bandipora Under Nasha Mukt Abhiyaan
Srinagar, April 27: In a decisive push against the growing drug menace, the IRP 21 Battalion has intensified its anti-drug awareness campaign across Baramulla and Bandipora districts under the flagship Nasha Mukt Abhiyaan.
The initiative is part of the Union Territory’s ongoing 100-day public welfare campaign spearheaded by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, reflecting a firm administrative commitment to curb substance abuse through sustained awareness and grassroots outreach.
Adopting a multi-layered strategy, the battalion has launched extensive public engagement efforts. Anti-drug awareness flyers are being distributed at mobile vehicle check posts, enabling direct interaction with commuters. Additionally, informative material is being circulated through leading newspapers across the Kashmir Valley to ensure wider household-level reach.
Officials said the campaign focuses on educating people—particularly the youth—about the severe health, social, and economic consequences of drug abuse. It also seeks to build community vigilance by encouraging citizens to report drug-related activities and support rehabilitation efforts.
Recognising young people as the most vulnerable demographic, special emphasis has been placed on targeted messaging designed to build awareness, resilience, and informed decision-making.
The UT administration has reiterated its zero-tolerance approach towards narcotics, combining strict enforcement with preventive awareness initiatives. Authorities believe such campaigns are essential in addressing the issue at its roots and fostering long-term societal change.
IRP 21 Battalion has called upon parents, teachers, community leaders, and civil society members to actively support the initiative, stressing that collective responsibility is key to eliminating the drug threat.
The ongoing drive is expected to strengthen the larger vision of a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir, promoting a safer and healthier future for the region.
